Favorite albums of 2024

First blog post of 2025! Here's my favorite albums of 2024, which is in a way part of my "Proof you don't need the music industry to be successful" series as almost all of these have been independently/self-released. There's various kinds of metal, electronic music, and other styles in here, if you're looking for some new music to listen to I highly recommend checking some of these artists out! What's been your favorite Scand-Merica comic strip of the year?

About a decade ago I started writing a lot of reviews, mostly music but also a couple games/comics. I stopped for a while as I rediscovered my own artistic gifts/loves that I always had and I started focusing on my own art, which is and continues to be a fulfilling journey, growing as a musician and visual artist. With that said, I'm still really proud of the reviews I wrote and how much they helped me develop my skills as a writer, and I still enjoy writing about what I love. While they could still be classified as "a review", I more see it as sharing my thoughts and feelings about the art that I love.

So here's a review on my blog of the underrated Bionicle 2D platformer Matoran Adventures, from Argonaut Studios (The creators of Star Fox) for the Game Boy Advance. This is the first review I've written in 2 years, and the first game review I've written in almost 10:

Enjoy the harmonic bass rock!

I'm proud to announce that my new EP of solo bass harmonic rock, Tail Thyme, is out now on Youtube!

Tail Thyme is probably my favorite song of mine I've released so far, so much so that I recorded several different versions before deciding on one for the single. However, as I loved a few others, I decided to release a few choice versions, all with some differences in sound, composition, and the Fáfnir & Pine Edit being closer to a whole new song. Complete with an additional B-side track, Half-Baked Alaska, I wanted to go for a tracklisting/structure similar to a 90's techno/breakbeat single/EP like The Chemical Brothers' Life is Sweet maxi-single for example. I feel I got what I was going for, and I'm really proud and happy with how it turned out!

Happy 810NICLE Day! I've loved Bionicle since 2005, and the Toa Hordika story arc from that year is still my favorite. It's long been an inspiration for many sides of my art, especially drawing. Here's some sketches I made of some characters/Kanohi masks a few years ago:

 Inspired by classic newspaper comics and Japanese cartoons, combined with my Scandinavian culture, I create a comedy cartoon that blends traditional cartooning, old Scandinavian culture and tradition, with my unique and sometimes surreal sense of humor.
